The Story
The original Pompadour Skater was one of the most effective steelhead skaters for over 20 years, thanks to its large, buoyant head and slender, low-riding body that kept it “sticky” on the surface and easy for fish to eat. It skated well, rarely dipped or twisted, and was tied on a heavy-wire TMC hook—until that hook’s discontinuation ended its mass production. Due to continued demand, I re-created it on a modern Ahrex hook, added a sighter, hot spots, and a new black-and-blue version that’s likely to be the top seller.
